"Walk Awhile in My Autism" Authors: Kate McGinnity & Nan Negri


Kate McGinnity, M.S., is a School Autism Consultant for Wisconsin and Illinois. She is an experienced classroom teacher and trainer with over twenty years experience working with individuals with autism and their families. Ms. McGinnity is a published author in the field of creating inclusive strategies in educational settings for children with autism spectrum disorders (e.g., McGinnity & Negri, 2005). She also has a demonstrated record as a stellar classroom teacher helping children with special needs. In 1987, she was recognized as the Wisconsin Teacher of the Year and the National Teacher of the Year by the Autism Society of America. Ms. McGinnity is also a foster parent of a child with ASD.

Nanette Negri, Ph.D., an Autism Educational Consultant for Imagine a Child’s Capacity in Madison, Wisconsin. Nan has over thirty years experience as a teacher and trainer and has written autism-related articles and co-authored a book on non-aversive behavior management strategies (e.g., McGinnity & Negri, 2005).
